Research project: The planarian microbiome and its response to external stressors

My project focusses on the bacteria associated with Schmidtea mediterranea. Currently, I am investigating which factors influence the planarian microbiome. I am using next-generation sequencing to study how the bacterial composition changes by external stressors. As altered bacterial communities may lead to dysbiosis, I also try to understand the role of bacteria in the planarian’s physiology.
